What is the Level 1 BEL Quiz?
The Level 1 BEL Event Eligibility Quiz is a mandatory online assessment for anyone who wants to take part in a BEL food challenge or event. It’s designed to make sure every participant understands the basics of safety, health, and conduct before stepping up to the table.
Why do I need to complete it?
Competitive eating can be risky, and we want every challenger to know how to keep themselves and others safe. The quiz covers the essentials—choking risks, health warnings, event rules, and the BEL code of conduct—so you’re prepared for a safe and enjoyable experience.
What happens when I pass?

- BEL Event Eligibility: You’ll be officially eligible to participate in any BEL event or food challenge.

- Digital Certificate: You’ll receive a digital certificate confirming your eligibility.

- Peace of Mind: You’ll know you’ve got the basics covered for safe, responsible competition.
Who must complete the quiz?
Everyone. All new and returning participants must complete and pass the Level 1 quiz before joining any BEL event or challenge (minimum age 16, with parental consent for under 18s).
How does it work?

- 20 multiple choice questions on safety, health, event rules, and BEL values.

- A pass mark of 90% (18/20 correct) is required.

- Unlimited retakes until you pass.
